Jeffie Hamilton, also known as “Crook” by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2020, at Marina Pointe Healthcare & Subacute in Culver City, California. He was born April 5, 1929 in his grandfather, Charles W. Cheatham Sr.’s house in Fulton, Arkansas to his parents Jim and Reather Hamilton. He was raised by his loving aunt Evata Cheatham Beasley. He had 7 brothers, Eddie Hamilton (1/2 brother), Neddie Hamilton (1/2 brother), Wilbur Hamilton, Willie Hamilton, Lee George Hamilton, Jimmy Lee Hamilton, Jim Hamilton, 2 sisters, Eddie Ruth Adams and Maggie Lee McClellan; they all preceded him in death.

In 1948 at the age of 19 he went to Colorado to work on the railroad laying steel on the railroad tracks. He also worked at a Jewish restaurant while in Colorado doing various maintenance jobs. He moved on to Kansas City, Missouri to work at the Feed Mill feeding hogs for slaughter. In September 1952, he moved to California where he spent the next 50 years working in construction.
He married Esteen Belcher on December 7, 1950, in Kansas City, Missouri to this union he had five children: Sandra Horton, Emma Hamilton, Loretta Fields Powell, Jeffie Hamilton, Jr., Carol Clewis (whom preceded him in death). He also had three other children: Terry Hamilton, Jeffie Jonathan Hamilton and Mitzi Hamilton.
He loved life, celebrating with friends and family, and he loved to brag about his children. He will be missed and leaves a hosts of grandchildren, great grands, aunts and cousins.
